Family Helpers is a fulls service domestic agency, that refers nannies, baby sitter, housekeepers, newborn care specialists and companions.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My name is Susan Tokayer, and I am the owner of Family Helpers. I worked as a psychiatric social worker before getting involved in the in-home childcare field. I had two young children at the time, and had a mother in-law that needed some companion care, which prompted me to open an agency.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Family Helpers has a very experienced staff that is able to assist clients find the right caregiver for their families' needs, as well as assist the caregivers in finding an ideal family to work with. We personally interview all of our applicants, do thorough background and reference checks, and the caregivers even take a written test to assess their level of knowledge re child development and other knowledge related to working with children.
We develop relationships with the people we work with, as opposed to doing everything online.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location, in Dobbs Ferry, NY. We place throughout the greater Westchester County area, and there is no need or plans to have more than one office.
